BitSummit has become one of the world’s most recognised events dedicated to independent games. Every year, thousands of developers, publishers, media and players gather in Kyoto to discover new titles, build connections and celebrate the creativity of the indie games industry.
For BitSummit Punch 2026, the festival welcomed a record-breaking 68,208 visitors across three days at Miyako Messe. As the event’s official photography partner, Ten Colors was responsible for documenting the festival from opening day through to the closing ceremony.
Project Overview
Our role was to create a complete visual record of the event.
Coverage included keynote presentations, live stages, the BitSummit Awards ceremony, exhibition booths, sponsor activations, networking, visitor interactions and the atmosphere across the venue. Rather than focusing on a single area, our team documented every part of the festival, ensuring organisers had a comprehensive library of imagery representing the entire event.
Coverage
BitSummit is a fast-moving event where several things happen at once. While presentations take place on stage, hundreds of exhibitors are welcoming visitors, business meetings are happening across the venue and the exhibition floor is constantly evolving.
Working as the official photography team meant moving continuously throughout the venue, balancing scheduled moments with the spontaneous interactions that give BitSummit its character. A developer introducing their game, visitors discovering a new favourite title or conversations between exhibitors all contribute to the story of the event just as much as the headline announcements.
The compact layout of Miyako Messe adds another layer of complexity. With busy aisles and densely packed booths, every photograph requires careful positioning to isolate the subject while preserving the energy of the surrounding crowd.
Delivery
Photography doesn’t end when the shutter is pressed.
Throughout the weekend, images were selected, edited and delivered the same day, allowing the organising team to publish photography while the event was still underway for media, partners and social media.
Alongside the official photography coverage, we also captured and edited short-form vertical reels on-site. Delivered in real time, these videos gave BitSummit’s team fresh content to share throughout the weekend, helping maintain momentum across its social channels and extending the reach of the event while it was still happening.
Outcome
BitSummit Punch 2026 marked another successful collaboration between BitSummit and Ten Colors.
As the festival continues to grow each year, our approach has evolved alongside it—providing organisers with reliable coverage, rapid content delivery and a complete visual archive of one of the world’s leading indie game events.
By combining comprehensive photography with real-time content delivery, BitSummit was able to communicate the energy of the festival as it unfolded while building a lasting collection of imagery that continues to support the event long after the doors closed.
